The Dead Rabbit × Bald Grace’s

A pirate queen, reimagined in Austin.

Never thought when we started Allies we’d end up working on a concept based on a legendary Irish pirate, but here we are.

Bald Grace’s was a summer pop-up from The Dead Rabbit ATX, inspired by Grace O’Malley. There’s a lot of story there, but we didn’t want to get too caught up in it. It just needed to feel fun, a bit bold, and not too precious.

We tried a few things and landed on something that felt right. A high-contrast palette that moves away from the obvious greens, leaning more into warm, sun-soaked colour. Typography with a bit of attitude to it. And a bunch of illustrated characters that bring Grace and her crew to life (the stout one is still our favourite).

It shows up everywhere - menus, interiors, all the bits you actually interact with in a bar - so the whole thing feels like one world rather than just a logo stuck on stuff.

How true all of the story is… we’ll leave that to you.
